Windows 7 Support Ends

After 10 years of operation, Microsoft decided to bring a complete end to Windows 7 support on January 14th 2020.

Whilst people will still be able to use the operating system, there will be no updates or support from Microsoft, meaning people still using Windows 7 could potentially be putting themselves at risk of security threats and viruses.

What Happens When Windows 7 Support Ends?

Upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 is optional, but Microsoft are urging people to make the move and to do it sooner rather than later. Anyone who uses Windows 7 after January 14 2020 and encounters problems with the software, will receive no help or support from Microsoft.

We advise all our customers to move to Windows 10 or Windows 11 as soon as possible.

Upgrade or Replace?

Upgrading an existing device to Windows 10 can be costly so it may be better value to buy a new, or refurbished computer. This is where we can help - whether you want 1 or 50, we have a huge range of PC's with Windows 10 or 11 Home pre-installed - it's all part of the cost you see on our website.

Windows 10 and 11 Pro is also available on compatible devices.

Windows 10 Versions

Here at Stone Refurb, all our devices come with Windows 10 Home or Windows 11 Home as standard.

However, if you are a business, or need additional security and network features, we also offer Windows 10 and 11 Pro upgrades with every PC for a small extra cost. Read more about the differences on our help article.

Will My Programs Work?

This is difficult to tell. The vast majority of popular programs and games will have upgrades or patches available, but if there is a particular piece of software you simply must have, and there isn't any other option, we advise you to contact the program maker.
